Substituting the 13-1/4" cast iron burner for the 13-1/4" brass burner.

For economical reasons you may want to substitute the cast iron burner we offer for the brass burner supplied as original equipment.
If you do, the substitution requires a modification to the burner support bracket carryover tubes.  (The carryover tubes are the rectanglular channels on the support bracket between the burners which "carryover" the gas from the adjacent burner to light the burner.)

Here's the support bracket (Part number 80000683) with the carryover tubes.   Notice the bottom edges of the carryover tubes extend out from the tubes.

Here's the issue.  The bottom of the cast iron burner is slightly wider and will not allow the burner to set properly on the support bracket.

Original brass burner.

Cast iron burner substitute.

The easy fix is to cut the extended flanges off the burner carryover tubes.  In this photo I'm using a 2 X 4 board to support the flange and a hack saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade to saw down through the flanges.  The saw marks on the bracket are unavoidable but will not effect the bracket.
Finished cut.  (The outside flanges on the outside ends of the tubes also need to be cut.)

The finished modification.
Note that the burner is now fully seated on the bracket
