It's always a bit grim around here when we have to admit summer has ended, but we knew it had to happen sometime. While some of us are lucky to live in an area that supports year-round grilling, our time at the grill always seems to taper off as we ramp up for the holidays. Year-round griller or not, this is a great time to think about cleaning up a season's worth of buildup – Nobody enjoys breaking out their grill in spring to find grease & grime that's been hibernating all winter.

Firebox Blues
You can save yourself a lot of grief by cleaning out your firebox. Most of that grime, after all, is combustible. All it really takes is a set of rubber gloves, a scraper (or putty knife), dish soap, and 30 minutes of your life. It can be a messy job & we can't promise that it'll be fun, but it will definitely be worthwhile. This is also a good time to make sure those burners, heat shields and cooking grates will be ready for food once spring has sprung.
